FAQs
What is CHECKED™?
CHECKED™ is a fixed-fee attorney document-review service operated by Silicon Valley Counsel, P.C. A real California attorney reviews your document — with AI-assisted issue spotting — and gives you a plain-English summary, the key risks, and practical next steps, before you sign.
Who performs the Checked review?
A licensed California attorney at Silicon Valley Counsel, P.C. — not a bot. SVC is an independent California law firm; its attorney has 20+ years of experience in Silicon Valley legal tech, business, and fundraising transactions. Every Checked review is performed by that attorney. Learn more on the About page or at www.SiliconValleyCounsel.com.
Is the work covered by malpractice insurance?
Yes — Silicon Valley Counsel, P.C. carries lawyers professional liability (malpractice) insurance.
Is my information attorney-client privileged?
Uploading a document doesn't by itself create an attorney-client relationship. That relationship forms only when the attorney counter-signs your engagement — at which point your confidential communications for the purpose of legal advice are protected as attorney-client privileged.
How does Checked use AI — and does an attorney review it?
Yes. A licensed California attorney reviews and is responsible for every substantive output. To support that review, the attorney uses carefully developed prompt scripts, command loops, and document playbooks built from years of practice — designed to make each review thorough and consistent and to help surface key risks, missing terms, and points that are easy to overlook. These tools assist the attorney's judgment; they don't replace it. SVC takes reasonable steps to protect your confidential information and does not submit it to publicly available AI systems for model training.
What can I expect back from Checked?
Plain-English summary, key risks identified, recommended revisions, negotiation guidance, marked-up document when appropriate, attorney review by Silicon Valley Counsel, P.C., AI-assisted issue spotting, and practical next-step recommendations.
When can I expect my CHECKED™ review back?
We confirm whether we're taking your matter within 4 business hours. The base fee is $350 plus $10 per page, at standard turnaround within 2 business days. You can adjust the speed: rush (within 1 business day) adds 50% to the base fee, and discounted (within 3 business days) takes 10% off the base fee.
I have a 5-page document — how much is a CHECKED™ review?
For a 5-page document, the base fee is $350 + (5 × $10) = $400 at standard turnaround within 2 business days. Rush (within 1 business day) is +50% = $600. Discounted (within 3 business days) is −10% = $360.
How is Checked so affordable?
The work is done by a California attorney with 20+ years of experience — supported by proprietary review systems that attorney built: structured prompts, review loops, and document playbooks refined over years of practice, run with current legal-AI tooling. That combination makes each review faster and more consistent without cutting quality, so we can offer fixed, lower fees and pass the efficiency on to you.
