Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Silicon Valley Counsel, P.C. ("the Firm") handles the documents and information you submit through Checked.

Your documents

Documents and materials you submit are held in private, encrypted storage and made available to the attorney through a time-limited download link. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of all documents, final work product, and executed agreements.

File retention and disposition

The Firm provides its services primarily by electronic communication and does not maintain a centralized client-file repository or act as custodian of your originals. The Firm may retain electronic copies of communications and work product in the ordinary course and may delete them after the engagement concludes, without further notice. Keep your own backups.

Confidentiality and privilege

Information you share in the course of an engagement is protected by attorney-client privilege once the attorney counter-signs your engagement. Uploading a document on its own does not create that relationship. The attorney may be required to disclose information only in the narrow circumstances permitted by law and the Rules of Professional Conduct.

Use of AI

The Firm may use AI-assisted tools to support the delivery of legal services. Such tools support, not replace, the attorney's judgment, and all substantive output is attorney-reviewed. The Firm takes reasonable steps to protect your confidential information consistent with its professional-responsibility obligations and does not knowingly submit your confidential information to publicly available AI systems for the purpose of training third-party models. Some processing may occur through third-party service providers that are subject to confidentiality obligations.

Payment and e-signature

Payments are processed by our payment processor (Stripe), which places an authorization hold at checkout and captures the charge only when an attorney counter-signs your engagement. Engagement agreements are executed electronically in-app through the Checked.legal platform — the client adopts a typed electronic signature at checkout and the attorney counter-signs by clicking "Counter-sign & accept" in the attorney console. The executed agreement is then emailed to the parties and retained in the firm's records. These providers process limited information needed to perform their services.
